How can I prepare for a planned or extended power outage?

During a power outage
Keep informed. Check for outages and restoration times on the Top Energy website.
Keep your fridge and freezer closed. Food will last longer if you keep the doors closed while the power is off.
Check on vulnerable or isolated friends and whānau. Is there anyone out there that may need a bit of help or support?

If you log a fault with Top Energy and the issue is found to be within your home or property, you will be charged to attend and repair the fault, just like you would with an electrician.
We may not be able to fix the issue if it’s within your home or business.

What happens when I log a fault?
First, our Call Centre will check to see if there is a known outage that impacts you. If there is a safety issue, you will be put through to our dispatch team for further information. Otherwise, your fault will join the queue.
If our fault responders are busy attending faults, this could take time. We may not be able to give you an accurate time of when our fault responder will arrive, as it’s possible emergency faults could be logged and prioritised.
