Three new Trustees have been appointed to the Top Energy Consumer Trust board for a four year term.
Adrienne Tari
Since returning to Kaikohe in 2006, Adrienne has been heavily involved in administering community-based initiatives and taking on a wide range of responsibilities and contributing to the economic development of Taitokerau. She was the previous General Manager for Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail Trust, an initiative which has contributed to tourism and employment in the region. She is a Relationship Manager at Northland Region Corrections Facility.
Paul White
Paul is a consultant providing a range of management, organisational and Māori development services. He is on several boards including Te Matapihi, Ngāi Tūpoto ki Motukaraka Trust and GNS Science. Previously Paul was CEO of the Ngai Tahu Development Corporation. Paul was on the Top Energy Board from May 2010 to June 2021.
Steven James
Steven comes with a wealth of knowledge having been involved with Top Energy for 30 years. He served as Top Energy’s General Manager Corporate Services and as secretary for the Top Energy Consumer Trust since its creation in 1993. He retired in December 2021 but was appointed to fill a casual vacancy on the Trust last year.
Trustee positions are filled, from a shortlist, by a Selection Panel comprising Kelvin Davis (MP for Te Tai Tokerau), Willow-Jean Prime (MP for Northland) and Tui Shortland (Chair, Northland Regional Council). Nominations were called for the three positions late last year and those appointed by the Panel began their four-year term on 1 April 2023.
The three trustees appointed by the Panel join the continuing trustees, Yvonne Sharp and Hugh Ammundsen. The five Trustees represent the 34,000 consumers connected to Top Energy’s network and are responsible for appointing the directors of Top Energy, assessing their performance and annually negotiating a Statement of Corporate Intent which sets out the objectives of the Company.
