A new trustee, Ann Court, has been appointed to the Top Energy Consumer Trust board for a four-year term.

Ann fills one of the two positions that became vacant at the end of March 2025 due to the provisions of the trust’s Deed. Chair Yvonne Sharp and Deputy Chair Hugh Ammundsen were the retiring trustees at the end of the previous four years, with Yvonne Sharp filling the other position.

Ann has served her community for many years through her involvement in organisations including, the Far North District Council, Consumer NZ, Northland Branch of the Automobile Association, Kerikeri Districts Business Association, and the Top Energy Consumer Trust.

Ann was a founding trustee when the Top Energy Consumer Trust was established in 1993 and has served for several periods, the latest from April 2013 to March 2021. In December 2022, Ann also assisted the Trust by filling a casual vacancy for four months.

She is currently a Councillor of the Far North District Council, being an elected member for nine terms.

Trustee positions are filled, from a shortlist, by a Selection Panel comprising Mariameno Kapa-Kīngi (MP for Te Tai Tokerau), Grant McCallum (MP for Northland), and Geoff Crawford (Chair, Northland Regional Council). Nominations were called for the two positions late last year and those appointed by the Panel began their four-year term on 1 April 2025.

The two trustees appointed by the Panel join the continuing trustees, Adrienne Tari, Paul White, and Steven James. The five trustees represent the 34,500 consumers connected to Top Energy’s network and are responsible for appointing the company's directors, assessing their performance, and annually negotiating a Statement of Corporate Intent that sets out the company's objectives.
