How to get connected
Applying for a connection is simple. Complete the online application form. There is an application fee of $100. The cost, and how long it takes to connect depends on your requirements and what’s already in place.
Residential New Builds
If there is a connection point already at the boundary with capacity for your needs, and your service cable meets the correct electrical standard, it will take about 30 days. It can cost between $1,000 to $10,000.
If there is no existing connection point, we have to design and price a solution for you. There is a charge for this service and it can take up to 6 months to complete.
Most work can be done by a certified electrician but Top Energy is responsible for work in the Road Reserve/Public Space to ensure the appropriate council standard and consent requirements are met.
Distributed Generation
In the Far North, 5% of our total connections are solar. The process for connecting solar or wind is quite different, even if you already have a connection to our network. You, or your installer, need to complete the Distributed Generation application form.
