Getting Connected – The Process

If you’re building a new property or increasing the electricity load to your existing property in the region supplied by Top Energy’s network, you will need to make an application to connect to the network.

So Top Energy can process your application,

please submit it at least 20 working days prior to your proposed connection date.

1. Timeframes are an indication only and can vary depending on work load.
2. Minor Works are considered, but not limited to: Works required to connect a standard dwelling of which power is readily available at the property boundary.
3. Major Works are considered, but not limited to: Works required to connect a standard dwelling which requires a significant Network extension; or, large subdivision developments.

New, temporary or load increase connections & permanent disconnections

Top Energy cannot guarantee a supply will be available for temporary connections. You will be advised in writing if we do not have a Network Connection Point (NCP) available.

If an NCP is required for a permanent connection and Top Energy does not have reticulation near the site, planning for establishing an NCP can be made at the temporary connection stage.

All costs to establish and connect a temporary supply are payable by the person making the application.

Situations which require permanent disconnection of Service Mains include:

  • Building demolition
  • Building Removal and
  • Site alterations or development

Before a supply can be permanently disconnected, Top Energy must receive confirmation from the power consumer’s Energy Retailer and must be given sufficient time to arrange the disconnection.
