“The Top Energy Group is financially sound, with a number of business segments, focused on providing both customer service and employment opportunities to the people of the Far North of New Zealand. The Group’s base remains in power generation and distribution. These activities provide a financial stability which creates opportunities for expansion of the Group. Expansion in the electrical contracting services sector continues to provide both profit returns and employment, together with the business services activities which expose us to international standards of service delivery. The result is a profitable and diverse group of companies.”
Steven joined what was then the Bay of Islands Electric Power Board in 1992. His role was initially to be focused on the transition of the Board to a new corporate entity.
Since that time he has been involved the development of the Top Energy Group, including the creation of joint venture arrangements, the construction and funding of both the pilot power generation plant at Ngawha and the expansion of that plant. The purchase and operation of a number of new ventures to expand the Contracting Division have also occurred during his time with the Group. Steven also provides secretarial services to the Top Energy Consumer Trust which owns the shares in the Company and which has distributed over $50m in dividends to the Far North community during the last decade.
